Quick start

  1. Open a Google Docs™ document.
  2. Choose Extensions > Pleading Paper & Caption Builder > Set up pleading paper. Line numbers 1 to 28 and the rules appear on every page.
  3. Choose Build caption…, fill in the sidebar and click Insert caption. The caption goes at the top of the document, and the footer title is added.
  4. To undo everything, choose Remove pleading paper. Your text is kept.

Common questions

The text does not line up with the numbers. Run Set up pleading paper again. It resets every body paragraph to 12 pt Times New Roman with the matching line spacing and no extra space before or after.

I clicked Build caption twice. The second caption replaces the first; it does not add a copy.

My footer already has a page number or firm name. The add-on keeps it and adds the rule and title below it. If the footer gets too tall for the page, the sidebar shows a note.

Does it meet my court’s rules? It follows the common California 28-line layout. Check your court’s local rules before filing; see the terms.

What data does it collect? None. See the privacy policy.
